# Licensing

> The plan you need to show halal.sh screening results in your own product, and the credit that goes beside them.

To show halal.sh screening results to the users of your product, you need the
**Developer plan**. The Plus plan is for your own research and automations, and sandbox
keys are for building and testing.

## Plans at a glance

| | Sandbox | Plus | Developer | Enterprise |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| For | Building and testing | Your own research and automations | Showing results in your product | Bulk data, redistribution and an SLA |
| Price | Free | [See plans](https://halal.sh/plans) | \$99 a month | Custom |
| Universe | 12 sandbox instruments | Full stock and ETF universe | Full stock and ETF universe | Full stock and ETF universe |
| Requests / day | 100 | 2,000 | 10,000 | Custom |
| Requests / minute | 10 | 120 | 300 | Custom |
| Evidence Packets / month | 10 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Show results to your users | No | No | Yes, with the credit | Yes |

Developer limits are per account: every live key, connected app and signed-in
session on the account shares the same 10,000 requests a day and 300 a minute.
Plus limits apply to each live key separately.

The Developer plan is \$99 a month in US dollars, with tax added at checkout
where it applies. There is no free trial: sandbox keys are free, so
you can build against the sandbox and subscribe when you're ready to show
results. [Get the Developer plan](https://halal.sh/developers).

The Developer plan doesn't include Plus. For Plus features in the halal.sh app,
such as monitoring every stock you watch, subscribe to Plus as well.

On Plus already? Add the Developer plan from
[halal.sh/developers](https://halal.sh/developers) as a second subscription,
billed separately from Plus. Your Plus subscription stays as it is, and your
existing keys keep working, with the Developer limits from the moment the
Developer plan starts.

## What the Developer plan licenses

While you're subscribed, you can show these results to the users of your own
product:

| Result | Where the API returns it |
| - | - |
| Compliance status | `determination.status` on [`/instruments/{symbol}/compliance`](/api-reference/instruments/get-compliance), `compliance_status` on [`POST /screen`](/api-reference/screening/screen) rows |
| Screening ratios | `screens` and `purification` on `/instruments/{symbol}/compliance` |
| Explanation | `determination.explanation` on `/instruments/{symbol}/compliance` |
| Evidence Packet | [`/instruments/{symbol}/evidence`](/api-reference/instruments/get-evidence) |
| A fund's purity and its holdings' statuses | `purity` on [`/etfs/{symbol}`](/api-reference/etfs/get-etf), `compliance_status` on [`/etfs/{symbol}/holdings`](/api-reference/etfs/get-holdings) |

You can show your users the filing and the evidence behind each result without
building or running any screening yourself.

Format the results to fit your product, but don't change what they say. Where
the explanation or the Evidence Packet states the market cap behind a ratio, you
can show that figure with it. Don't present the results as investment advice, a
religious ruling or a certification by halal.sh.

The license is non-exclusive and non-transferable, and it lasts while you're
subscribed: when the subscription ends, stop showing the results. Your live
keys keep working after that, at the Plus limits if you have Plus and in the
sandbox otherwise. The legal terms are in
[section 17 of the Terms of Service](https://halal.sh/terms#developer).

## The credit

Show the credit **Screening by halal.sh** beside the results, where your users
can see it:

* Put it next to a badge, under a ratio table, or once beside a list or table of
  results.
* On a web page, link it to `https://halal.sh`.
* In a native app, show the same text.
* Style it to match your product, as long as it stays readable.
* A credit only in your footer, an About page or your terms doesn't count.

<CodeGroup>
  ```html HTML theme={null}
  <div class="screening-result">
    <span class="badge">Compliant</span>
    <a href="https://halal.sh">Screening by halal.sh</a>
  </div>
  ```

  ```jsx React theme={null}
  export function HalalShCredit() {
    return (
      <a href="https://halal.sh" className="text-xs text-gray-500 underline">
        Screening by halal.sh
      </a>
    );
  }
  // Beside the result it credits
  export function ScreeningResult({ label }) {
    return (
      <div className="flex items-center gap-2">
        <span className="badge">{label}</span>
        <HalalShCredit />
      </div>
    );
  }
  ```
</CodeGroup>

A complete compliance badge with the credit is in the
[badge guide](/guides/embed-compliance-badge).

## What the license does not cover

* **Bulk export:** downloading results in bulk, or keeping a copy of our data
  beyond what your product shows its users.
* **Re-serving or reselling:** offering the results through your own API or data
  feed, reselling them, or presenting them as your own.
* **A competing dataset or API:** using the results to build a dataset, screening
  service or API that competes with halal.sh.
* **Removing the credit:** showing results without it.
* **Third-party market data:** share prices, daily price changes, market cap and
  company descriptions come from market data providers. In the API, that's
  `market_data` on `/instruments/{symbol}` and `POST /screen`, and
  `metrics.market_cap` on `/instruments/{symbol}/financials`. The market cap
  behind a ratio, where the explanation or the Evidence Packet states it, is
  the one exception.
* **Other API data:** anything outside the licensed results above, such as
  financial health ratings. [Contact us](https://halal.sh/contact) if you want to show it.

## Enterprise

Enterprise is a separate contract for bulk data, redistribution, custom limits
and a service-level agreement (SLA).

with you.
